Designing a home theater Complete guide to build a cinema room of your own

"It was a pleasure working with ACS. To be quite honest (as I always am…) working with ACS was the best experience working with any AV/Home Integration company in my entire tenure here at Hobbs." It's great for gaming too, with an incredibly low input lag, support for high refresh rates and has full support for both Nvidia's G-Sync and AMD's Freesync technologies. With a little thoughtful décor, it can easily double as a living room, enabling you to use the space in multiple ways.

However, there are several important and basic principles you should observe to make the most of what you have. It is recommended that you use professional installers who have experience with overhead speakers as they can be more complicated to set up correctly. There are two factors that affect the luminance, the lumen output of the projector and the gain of the screen. The lumen output measures how much light the projector throws at the screen.

The Home Theater Projector and Screen

If your project involves removing load-bearing walls, first consult a structural engineer or contractor. If you are unskilled in electrical work, hire an electrician for running new circuits from the service panel or for any type of electrical work.

Throw Distance

However you want to paint the ceiling of your home theater a darker color. This will help cut down on the light reflecting off the ceiling onto your cinema screen and slightly washing out the projected image. If you want to have a 150 inch projector screen, you would take 150, multiply it by 1.34 and get 201 inches, or 16.8 feet.

Much like a projector screen there’s a lot that goes into choosing a home cinema projector. While it may seem appealing to have a floor to ceiling display, this actually isn’t the optimal layout. When designing your home cinema you want the top of the lower third of the screen to be at eye level.

The sound of it’s heavy breathing not just coming from around you but from above as well, making it feel like the giant beast is towering over you. This is the best seat in the house and it’s specifically for you. Normally the king’s chair is going to be placed in the middle of the room and depending on your room and projector screen size, slightly back from the center. If you ask your run-of-the-mill builder or architect to design a media room, they’ll probably give you a standard rectangular dedicated space. They’ll likely not fully consider the lighting, sight lines and acoustics of the place. With a plain rectangular space, the average person wants to squeeze the maximum amount of seating in the room.

So with a 150 inch projector screen the THX standard would dictate you should be sitting 16.8 feet away. If you’re a cinephile and have enough space, having a home theater is such a fun addition to a home. It’s a special way to get family and friends together for more intimate movie time. And it’s always more exciting to watch your favorite show on a big screen. For a bedroom off the nursery, Carmine Sabatella wanted to create a jewel-toned escape.

The first number defines the number of standard speakers, and the second is the amount of subwoofers. Sometimes you’ll even see a third number like with a 9.2.4 surround sound system with the third number indicating the number of overhead Dolby Atmos speakers. Some people build a shelf in the back of their movie room where they can place the projector along with other components like the media player and home theater receiver. However you need to make sure it’s high enough so no one accidentally walks in front of it. Also with mounting it you don’t need to worry about accidentally jostling the projector out of alignment. Following the THX standard, for every 1 inch of diagonal screen size you should be 1.34 inches away.

Premium Theater Seating At Home

But the truth is, home theaters can live just about anywhere in your home. With a little imagination, you can turn your basement, attic, or living room into a cozy movie-watching nook. You might think it’s best to have the door in the back of the room but if you open the door from the back the light is going to hit the screen interrupting the movie watching experience for everyone. They absorb sound and prevent excess reverberation around the place.

Without one of these specially made screens the soundwaves (particularly from the subwoofer) can cause your screen to ripple and muffle the sound. The acoustic screens are woven or made with small perforations that allow the sound to pass through without disrupting the projected image. In an at home movie theater you don’t want anyone walking past to interfere with the projected image on the screen, so for regular and short throw projectors you’ll often want to put it on the ceiling. You must get a projector mount that can support and properly hold your unit.

You can really complete the home theater experience by using the right mood lighting. While that might mean something different for everyone, you can set up your lighting to cater to every mood and setting with some smart lightbulbs, and Philips Hue are arguably the best around. You can save a lot of money by buying individual recliners for your home theater, and if it's just you who's going to be watching, you might as well save the space too. This excellent recliner from Pulaski Larson is supremely comfortable and comes with its own swivel tray which you can attach to each arm.

A moody House of Hackney floral wall covering lines the dressing area, which leads to a powder room accented with a Kelly Wearstler’s Graffito II from Walnut Wallpaper. A black-and-white triangular mosaic tile floor by Artistic Tile from Mission Tile West puts a contemporary twist on the classic checkered pattern. The event draws more than 25,000 guests each year and offers several dining spaces, including Roe Japanese Fusion, the Tudor Rose Bistro, and Wattle & Daub Tavern. The Shops at the Showcase offer an array of merchants, from handmade jewelry to artisanal chocolates, and are also home to the Shops’s Wine & Cheese Bar.

One trend we’ve seen is transforming the movie room into a more transitional space. We’ve seen these film watching spaces double as gaming rooms, workout rooms and home offices. The bigger projector screen allows you to see better and a lot of them have a feature to plug in your own laptop making online meetings easier to sit in on. This also makes resale of your house less complicated as you can say it is a multipurpose area as opposed to just a home theater.

But you can certainly make them a staple of your at-home movie nights. So top your cozy theater seats with the plushest blankets you can find. And when you’re planning to host a crowd, keep a handful at the ready in a nearby basket. When it comes to theater seating, you don’t have to stick to just one option.

SMPTE recommends about a 30 degree viewing angle from the screen while THX suggests a 36 degree viewing angle. The viewing angle would increase as you move closer to the screen. Depending on which you prefer, these standards will give you the most comfortable viewing experience and allow you to fully appreciate what is happening on your screen. First, and most importantly, understand that you need to optimize the effects of both direct sound energy and reflected sound. Here, keep in mind that sound "reflects" every time a sound wave encounters a physical barrier, be it a coffee table, a wall, or a chair.

Disneys Owl House finale delivers a perfect ending

luz the owl house

The two get sent to the Conformatorium where they take on the guards and find where Eda is being kept. Luz uses alight glyph to snap Eda back to her senses, and Eda tells Luz to take the key to the Human Realm in order to keep it away from Belos. The platform Eda is on starts to rise and Lilith enters with King in hand. As Luz is looking through a brochure for Hexside, she remembers she is supposed to meet Amity to get her book back. After Amity hands over the book, Luz tells her they could start a book club once she starts Hexside.

Stopping the Draining Spell

Luz used Stringbean to cut Amity free, and then she turned her attention to Hermione. But, much like they had for Harry, the merpeople grabbed Luz and stopped her from freeing Hermione. Half a dozen mermen were pulling him away from Hermione, shaking their green-haired heads and laughing. They didn’t resemble the painting of the mermaid in the prefect’s bathroom at all. Their eyes were yellow, as were their broken teeth, and they wore thick ropes of pebbles around their necks. They leered at Harry as he swam past; a few even emerged from their caves to watch him better.

Characters

Percy, who looked very white and somehow much younger than usual, dove into the lake to meet them. Meanwhile, Madame Maxime was trying to restrain Fleur, who was trying very hard to return to the water. Without a moment to spare, his head finally broke the surface of the water.

Season 1

Luz Noceda has friendship campaigns with Eda Clawthorne and Philoctetes. The two try to kiss each other, but the moment keeps getting ruined by someone or something nearby. During a dance, Luz tries to kiss Amity only for that moment to be ruined by King, who has taken over the stage and making quite a racket. But at the end of their date, Luz (after making sure nobody else is around, adjusting the camera, and ensuring the audience's silence) is able to give Amity a kiss on the cheek (after checking there are no more surprises).

When Amity asks if she's alright, Luz tries brushing it off, saying that she wants to support her. Later, when the Abomaton returns from an errand Amity sent it on, Luz tries to stop it, only to accidentally set off an alarm it had in a panic. When Amity comes by and asks if she had touched it, Luz lies and says that she didn't, not wanting Amity to worry. Later, when Alador arrives and reveals that the alarm on the Abomaton had been set off, Luz starts acting nervous when Amity becomes worried upon finding out that she had lied to her and had been acting weird all day.

The Owl House Is A Metaphor For Grief I Wasn't Remotely Ready For.

This isn’t a story where the found family dissolves after the adventure or bittersweetly grows apart; these bonds are made to last and last they will. The Owl House gave us almost everything that it could’ve in its limited three episode final season — and also gave us a gut-punch in the finale that is going to stick with us for some time. Because we’ve seen Luz work out her issues and confront them head on, it’s very evident how both Belos and the Collector represent these trials that once stood in her way. Emperor Belos, who at this point we know to be the colonial-era witch hunter Phillip Wittebane, represents control and conformity — Luz’s external fears. But the Collector, with their childish impulses and deep insecurities, is more of a reflection of Luz’s greatest anxieties.

Characters /

Before the Gravesfield Halloween Festival, Luz records a mournful video on her laptop, stating that she has decided to stay in the Human Realm permanently to protect her friends from her own flaws. Sometime later, Luz is confronted by Belos, who ultimately creates a new portal in a cemetery with Titan's Blood he found using a map he stole from the gang while possessing Hunter's body. Their friends and Camila arrive to help, and Hunter expels Belos from his body after the battle by attempting to drown himself. Flapjack, his palisman, sacrifices himself to save Hunter's life, deepening Luz's guilt.

Luz then realizes that King is a titan, and that the Titan Trappers worship the Collector, so they hurry off to warn King. However, Bill figures it out as well before they can get to King, and he plans to sacrifice King by disguising it as an initiation ritual. She and Hooty manage to save King at the last minute and inform him he is the last titan. They make their way to where they arrived and teleport back to the finger before destroying it to prevent the Titan Trappers from following them. Luz and Hooty consul King before going back to the ship and sailing home.

At the market, they are given a fraction of the reward money and Luz insists they go after targets with larger bounties, but Eda is against it. Luz listens as Eda tells Lilith how she is against going for larger bounties as it is too much of a risk and they need food Luz can digest. In response, Luz and King go after the largest bounty they can find, the selkidomus.

Upon finding themselves in the Tunnel of Love that Hooty had set up for them, Luz starts worrying that Amity will make fun of her like how she was made fun of back home, and starts destroying the Tunnel of Love out of embarrassment. When she tries telling Amity that the whole thing was stupid, Amity sadly believes that she meant that the idea of them dating was stupid, causing Luz to realize that she had upset Amity and made the situation worse. In "Through the Looking Glass Ruins", Luz still blushes when in the presence of Amity, though less so than her. After discovering the Echo Mouse, Amity tells Luz, "You always have a way of sneaking into people's hearts", and kisses her on the cheek. Luz is left completely dumbstruck by this as Amity turns away and walks into her house in embarrassment.

Luz then goes to Blight Manor to find that Amity has changed her hair color. She reveals she got Amity her job back and describes what she went through as the mouse that ate the diary appears out of her hood. She grabs it and Amity explains it is an echo mouse and demonstrates how it projects what it eats. After watching an entry, Luz changes her attitude on the mouse and says they will be great friends. As they venture through the forbidden stacks, they hide from Malphas, the master librarian.

In "Understanding Willow", Luz learned of how Odalia and her husband coerced Amity into ending her friendship with Willow, causing her to be disgusted by Odalia's callous and emotionally abusive parenting. In turn, Odalia came to despise Luz due to Amity's growing feelings for her, which began to threaten the elder Blight's hold over her daughter. In "Thanks to Them", during the months following being trapped in the Human Realm, Luz and Hunter's bond has continued to grow, developing a much closer and unique relationship. While in the Human Realm, the two continued to bond as they guarded their respective secrets, which they kept from their friends, while also confining in each other the guilt and shame they both felt about them.

In "Eclipse Lake", it's shown that Luz had given Amity a game device to send her messages using a variety of symbols. As Luz is sick with the common mold, Amity decides to go find Titan's Blood at Eclipse Lake along with Eda and King. Later, when the Echo Mouse reveals an entry about a dangerous substance known as Fool's Blood, which could be confused for Titan's Blood, Luz hurries to send a message to Amity in order to warn her, Eda, and King. When the trio return to the Owl House later, Luz rushes to hug Amity, relieved that her "awesome girlfriend" is okay. In "Escaping Expulsion", Luz comes back to Hexside after the petrification ceremony of Eda, and Amity gives her something called a "Fairy Pie".

Her plucky spirit and quick wit make her a formidable problem-solver and a lovable underdog. It feels earned, especially with the heart-to-heart she has in the “Space In Between” with the original Titan himself. Luz confesses one last anxiety — that she’s no better than Belos in her desire to protect her friends. It’s the last metaphorical hurdle she needs to vault over, one last insecurity to reflect upon, before she can pick herself up again and fight. With only an abridged season 3 to wrap up its story, The Owl House was only expected to do so much.

After saving the school from a Greater Basilisk and teaming up with the students of the detention track, for merely trying to learn more than one type of magic, Luz manages to convince Principal Bump to have her take every track, much to her enjoyment. She is humored at the fact that Eda also wanted to learn from all the tracks when she was attending. Luz and her friends become closer now that she begins to attend Hexside to the point that Amity slowly begins to gain a crush on her, something Luz is completely oblivious to. She even begins to challenge the new mean girl Boscha when she refuses to let up on picking on Willow, who had begun to display newfound confidence.

Role in the series

She first encountered him during her first day on the Boiling Isles, while infiltrating the Conformatorium to retrieve King's crown which Wrath had stolen. During this time, she immediately came to despise Wrath for his cruelty and his imprisonment of innocent witches and demons simply for not being normal or fitting into society. Despite this, Luz was also intimidated by Wrath's imposing demeanor and strength, causing her to initially fear him during their first meeting. This fear, however, would quickly subside when Wrath soon had her, Eda, and King cornered, whereupon he revealed his secret attraction for Eda, much to Luz's discomfort, who openly expressed her disgust of his unsettling interest towards her mentor. After overcoming her fear of him, Luz became determined to help her friends defeat and escape Wrath, and was unafraid of facing him in battle. While escaping the Conformatorium, Luz proved instrumental in beating the ruthless Warden, having briefly knocked him unconscious with Owlbert before releasing and rallying his prisoners against him, which resulted in his humiliating defeat.

Friends

Gwen tries to look for answers, but only finds a prompt to purchase the next volume. Soon, King and Hooty arrive to inform them Lilith has transformed as well. They try to get Morton to give them elixir, but he turns them away as they have no money. However, Gwen, who finally learned that she was being conned, arrives with elixir and the three subdue the sisters and get them back to normal.

Fictional character biography

She is even further surprised upon finding out that Hunter hasn't told them about being a Grimwalker, with him saying he still isn't sure if he's a witch or human, as all he knows is that he's just a copy of someone Belos got rid of. When Luz notes how much Willow and Gus seem to like him, she becomes mortified when Hunter then notes that she herself likely hasn't mentioned helping out Philip to them, with Hunter then asking her not to tell them. Later, when Kikimora reveals that Belos knows about the plan to stop the Draining Spell, Luz decides she needs to warn Eda and the others and has Gus disguise her as Hunter and vice versa, knowing that Kikimora planned to take "Hunter" right to Belos. In "Hollow Mind", Luz is shown trying to convince the people of the Isles that Belos is actually evil, even trying to question Hunter about it. After both get trapped in Belos' mindscape, Luz notes how different it looks than when she was in Willow's. After running into "Inner Belos", she and Hunter soon find out that the supposed mindscape was fake, with Luz noting that it represents the lies Belos has told, and they fall into the real one.

As she is experimenting with glyph combinations with Lilith, Luz discovers how to turn herself invisible. Shortly after, King starts talking about his life before losing his powers and talks about falling from a great height. Lilith casts doubt on his story and he brings out Lilith and Eda's staffs and the three of them, along with Hooty, fly to an unknown island. King unlocks the door to the ruins and the group explore where they find a clogged hole in the ceiling.

Episodes

Afterwards, when Amity expresses her worry about her parents not knowing about the Draining Spell, Luz assures her that she, along with the others, will help warn them. Later, both Luz and Amity, along with Willow, Gus, Hunter, sneak into the Blight factory, and get captured by Odalia and Kikimora instead. In "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door", it's shown that Luz is torn between trying to get information out of the Echo Mouse and trying to figure out how to ask Amity out, referring to her as a "cotton-candy-haired goddess". Luz is worried that Amity will find her cheesy like everyone did back home, stating that Amity is "smart, cool, and classy", so asking her out should be breathtaking, emotional and real. Later, she finds Amity in the basement, who has been kidnapped and brought there by Hooty. When Amity mentions wanting to forget about the kiss at Blight Manor, Luz gets worried and quickly changes the subject.

Hooty

After the fight, Luz finally confesses that the Day of Unity and everything that has happened to them is her fault, as it was she who introduced Philip Wittebane to the Collector when she traveled back in time. However, much to her surprise, her friends still show their support and reassure her; furthering her surprise, Camila declares that she too will go to the Demon Realm. Everyone, with the exception of Vee (who stays home to keep up appearances), crosses the portal.

Relationships

However, when they spot a hooded figure that they think is Mildred, they chase after them in order to get answers. After a long chase, the figure is revealed to be Tinella Nosa in disguise, and that it was part of a scam set up by Tibbles, which involved trying to sell the books by having Mattholomule edit the author's photo so that she would look like a witch. However, the scam fell through when it turned out that Amity was the only customer buying the books. While the two are initially disappointed, Amity later says that she had fun coming up with their own theories, and Luz decides to have their Azura Book Club also be a writing club. In "Follies at the Coven Day Parade", Luz finds it sweet that Amity had been trying to learn Spanish after Amity calls her "Batata" (sweet potato).

Harry checked what was the cause of the pain, and he found that he had grown gills! Eventually, he got out of the chair, despite his body screaming at him to stay in its comfy seat, and walked back to bed. Quickly, Gus returned with a small vial of deep-red blood he obtained from the Canadian Lake monster.

After he leaves, Luz suggests ideas to get Vee out, but Vee says it is too dangerous, as he knows what her disguise is now and smashes the mirror. At first her mom thinks it is a video call and Luz is playing a game, however, after arriving at the historical society, Camila realizes it is real and convinces her to help. As Luz struggles with balancing building a portal and her crush on Amity, Hooty kidnaps Amity and puts her in the basement of the Owl House. Luz apologizes for the incident as Amity asks Luz to forget about the last time Luz was at Blight Manor. When they get off, Luz apologizes for the incident and Amity brushes off the idea of them being a couple.

When Lilith strikes him in the face after he suggests that they help him again if they want the information, Luz becomes smug that he got what was coming to him. Later, Luz is shown to be upset that the person she was hoping could help get her home really turned out to be a jerk. Following her arrival to the Demon Realm, Luz immediately came to despise Belos for his cruel and oppressive rule over the Boiling Isles, and realized that he was extremely dangerous and up to no good from the moment she saw him for the first time.

luz the owl house

Amity then runs off after getting upset at both her father and Luz, leading to Luz running after her. Upon finding her under the Grom tree, Amity vents to Luz about how much the brawl meant to her and how complicated it got when Luz entered, noting her strange behavior all day, with Luz feeling guilty about it all. When Amity asks if it has something to do with the Human Realm, Luz reveals that it's the anniversary of the day her dad died.

Luz berates her for it as Willow slumps on the girls and says they will be good friends. Luz takes Amity, Willow, and Gus to the Owl House where Eda explains that they have to go into Willow's mind and fix the damage manually. Luz looks out the window and sees Willow and Gus and begs them to get her out, saying she is too good for detention. After the teacher falls asleep, the other detention track students—Jerbo, Viney, and Barcus—show her a secret room they use to secretly learn magic and show her a heavily vandalized portrait of the room's creator. Just then, Willow and Gus come in and the others over hear them saying Luz thinks she is too good for detention and they turn on her.

After the Collector unleashes a "light spell", the Owl Beast is revealed to be Terra Snapdragon in a costume, who the Collector turns into a puppet after she insults him. The Collector and King leave soon after and Luz and everyone decide to go to the Head to confront the Collector just as they are found by Skara, Barcus, and Mattholomule. Thanks to her friends, Luz manages to create a primitive version of a portal back home. While she cannot directly return, she finds herself in a chamber that allows her to peer into other worlds or other areas of the Boiling Isles. She manages to locate home, but discovers, to her shock, that her mother Camila is with a girl that looks exactly like her.

Pediatric Dental Websites

The price of a dental website will depend upon the type of website you wish to create. Affordable, template-based sites are notorious for their rigidity and poor performance — especially user metrics, security and SEO. Template-based websites are typically recommended for freelancers who need a simple and affordable digital presence. Studies have shown that 94% of users trust online reviews as much as they trust recommendations from their friends. Use social proof such as reviews, testimonials, success stories and awards to build credibility and trust with your audience, and push a potential patient into conversion.

Educational Videos

If possible, practices should also include a short video of the dentist(s), welcoming potential patients to the practice and introducing themselves. See more about the importance of video in the “Video” section below. Another frequently visited page is the Provider page, which allows potential patients to learn more about the dentist(s) at the practice.

Online

This may seem like the least significant aspect of your website design, but fonts and colors that are inconsistent with your brand can easily tell patients that you don’t pay much attention to details. And that’s not the message you want to send to people who will be counting on receiving a high level of care. If you make it difficult to find something or force users to make too many clicks to get where they want to go, you’ll lose them. If you want your website to convert a visitor into an appointment, think about the paths your visitors will take through your site pages and make the navigation easy to follow. Also be fairly consistent with your layout from page to page so that people don’t have to figure the structure every time they land on a new page.

The Best Dental Website Designs of 2023

I recommend that North Beach Dental Care add more information about its services to improve its search engine visibility. Content is king for SEO, especially in a competitive niche like dentistry. Propose an initial treatment plan and encourage prospective patient interest in your practice with a simple tool allowing people to upload images of their teeth.

At the end of the day, what’s most important is finding a dental website design company that does high-quality work and whose team meshes with you and your practice culture. A regularly updated dental practice blog is also an excellent source of fresh content to share via your practice’s social media channels, Google Business Profile, and email newsletter. For best results, dentists should consider hiring a marketing company that not only has a solid grasp of dental website design but also understands the fundamentals of SEO. Choose O360® to benefit from the best cloud-based servers with no bandwidth or memory limits on your website.

If you want a user friendly website, you’ll likely be incorporating technology like online scheduling, chat, patient forms and online bill pay applications. Each of these services carry their own cost through their providers, but make your site more engaging for the end user. Your next step really depends on how much will be involved to bring your website marketing up to where it should be. If you just need to update your branding and create a more contemporary feel, a “re-skin” that updates the look and feel while keeping the majority of the content and functionality could do the trick. If you’re suffering from poor search results, then a good dental SEO strategy might get you back on track.

The website’s color palette is vibrant and inviting, setting a lively tone that’s both refreshing and indicative of their innovative approach to dentistry. Skyline Dental also features an excellent user experience, outlining everything a prospective patient might have questions about, including a simple 3-step process for getting started. And of course, take note of the site’s lightning-fast page load times, an embedded Google map, trust badges (logos of their affiliations and certifications) which help add authority, and keyword-optimized copy.

The sea urchin service is a one-of-a-kind offering for fans of uni, and the caviar service takes luxury to the next level. The lobster bisque roll is a popular cooked entree that is full of flavor and can even be topped with caviar for a next-level experience. Holbox is a seafood stand where fresh ingredients and simple preparations allow simplicity to shine. Chef Gilberto Cetina draws inspiration from his own childhood and has crafted a menu filled with dishes inspired by coastal Mexican culinary traditions.

The Anchovy Bar

The all-day menu ranges from raw dishes like ceviche to a hamachi crudo topped with fresh sprouts and fruit. The "snacks" section of the menu changes with the seasons, but the Kennebec French fries are a consistent favorite. In this entree, grilled snook is prepared with salt and house sauce, and its flaky white meat is served alongside caramelized onions and tortillas.

It is then followed by six additional courses, ranging from a fresh, herby dish named Nancy's Down East sea scallop to house-made dark chocolate, complete with notes of passion fruit and caramel. The restaurant's scallops are a solid go-to that is dependably delicious and is beautifully presented on a half-shell before being complemented with tangerine, pomegranate, serrano, cilantro, and lava salt. Umami tosazu sauce, acidic grapefruit, luxurious avocado, crisp radish sprouts, trout roe, and a slightly peppery nasturtium combine to craft an unforgettable bite.

Connie and Ted's has tapped into a widespread craving for seafood classics, and since 2013, Angelenos have flocked en masse to the restaurant. In the Los Angeles seafood scene, Sushi Kaneyoshi is known for its sophisticated ambiance, artfully constructed omakase menu, and impeccably prepared boxes of picture-perfect sashimi, nigiri, and chirashi. Each box is packed to the brim with colorful cuts of gorgeous seafood, and there's no denying that digging into the package would be slightly heartbreaking if it weren't so delicious. In the years since its opening in 1987, Coni'Seafood has become an Inglewood staple and has carved out a name for itself as one of the best spots for Mexican seafood in the Los Angeles area. House favorites include the tacos de marlin, which is served with smoked marlin, onion, tomato, and cheese, and the Camarones al mojo de ajo. The current tasting menu begins with macadamia topped with rich caviar, caramelized shallot, and crisp, salty, nori.

Angler Los Angeles

Whether you're craving fried shrimp or a zesty scallop crudo, here's our list of the 20 best seafood restaurants in Los Angeles. The cioppino is jammed with mussels and crab claws, and don’t be shy about accepting the bib, it’s a full garlic steam facial. Longtime regulars love the warm leather and wood interiors, where they slide into a favorite booth and chat with servers who have been there for decades. Scoma’s known for old-school cioppino, strong Manhattans, mixed grill platters, and ice-cold shrimp cocktails. The full-service restaurant originally started off as a small, family-owned spot but quickly became recognized for its fresh fish and inspiring approach.

This understated Vietnamese restaurant out by the beach lays claim to having invented the garlic noodle and crab combination that’s since become a Bay Area staple. Obviously, then, a whole roasted crab seated over a pool of garlicky, peppery butter sauce is a must, along with a bowl of bouncy egg noodles absolutely smothered in more garlic. Morihiro has won over the Los Angeles sushi scene as the latest and greatest restaurant from Michelin Star Chef Morihiro Onodera, who was raised on his family's farm in Japan and trained as a sushi chef in Tokyo. His deep connection to the ingredients that compose each dish isn't just emotional — he actually harvests his own locally-grown rice and shapes the homemade pottery that is used to serve each dish. Piers and great food don't usually mix, but Quality Seafood, a two-story restaurant on the Redondo Beach pier, is an exception. The market and eatery have been in business since 1953, so it has had plenty of time to perfect how its fish is prepared and where it comes from.

Those who enjoy the vibes of the Snug will most likely love visiting the team’s modern oyster bar spinoff Little Shucker. The menu includes oyster bar standards such as baked oysters and oyster shooters, but those who want to splurge can do so on a seafood tower stacked with oysters, mussels, prawns, crudo, and Maine lobster. Beyond oysters, the restaurant serves smoked salmon tartine, mussels, whole branzino, and a lobster roll, alongside wines by the glass or some zero-proof drinks, if preferred. For a fuller meal try one of the crudo, a whole branzino, or a platter of grilled octopus. This latest restaurant from the State Bird team is an ode to chef Stuart Brioza’s obsession with anchovies, and when in season, the local little fish are laboriously preserved in-house.

Sit back and enjoy your feast as you take in the epic ocean views and watch groups of bikers come and go down the highway. Other Saltie Girl favorites include the lobster frites, the French Dover sole, and the warm spicy king crab roll. Pair your meal with a crisp glass of white wine and enjoy the sunny SoCal weather from the pink-and-blue patio that looks right out onto Sunset Boulevard. For folks indulging for the first time, its taco de camaron, also known as the crispy shrimp taco, is a customer favorite, and a must-order. Another go-to dish is the Poseidon, which is a crisp tostada loaded up with a tasty tower of shrimp ceviche, octopus, avocado, and spicy red aguachile. Given its coastal location, Los Angeles is home to some of the best seafood in the nation.

From fresh fish to golden-fried goodies, the seafood scene in LA is diverse and abundant. While seafood typically has a higher price point and is seen as a fancier food option, it is possible to enjoy it in a more casual and laid-back setting. Sure, there are plenty of fancy seafood joints in Beverly Hills and Malibu, but there are also a few renowned food trucks and taco stands serving up some of the freshest seafood in the city.

The bluefin tuna is another more delicate starter that is just as beautiful as it is delicious. The Ceviche Project was created as an ode to raw seafood, and the restaurant's team has harnessed this passion to craft dishes that are both beautifully constructed and always fresh in both ingredients and execution. Upgrade to the premium oysters to enjoy them alongside salty seaweed, briny trout roe, and a spicy hit of serrano oil.

All of its seafood is wild-caught, and the vast majority of it is sourced from local waters. Even the place settings are prepared with care, complete with a hot towel and a front-row seat to the work done by the restaurant's team of sushi chefs. Since its opening in 2011, Fishing with Dynamite has brought a playful and vibrant attitude to its menu of seafood staples. The restaurant pulls inspiration from a variety of different continents, oceans, and cultures, resulting in a fusion that could only have been cooked up in Southern California. The restaurant sources a different selection of oysters each day, but they're always worth tasting.

Snag the crudo trio and you'll get a taste of some of the freshest fish that Los Angeles has to offer. There’s no shortage of great Italian restaurants in North Beach, but when it comes to seafood, Portofino earns special praise. The small casual restaurant crouches on Grant Street and cultivates an old-school vibe, in a good way.

Year-round, there’s also tinned fish from Spain and Italy, as well as a selection of oysters and caviar and hot dishes including Meyer lemon-miso clams and squid with kimchi served over bouncy rice cakes. Son of a Gun is a seafood-centric sister restaurant to Jon and Vinney's, a popular Italian eatery that is known for its pizza. The nautical-inspired restaurant is located on West 3rd Street, and while you might get lucky by walking in, it is highly recommended to make a reservation.

The 20 Best Seafood Restaurants In LA

Its Baja fish taco is topped with the unbeatable combination of crema, mayo, salsa roja, and pico de gallo. If you're craving more, the scallop and Baja shrimp tacos are two other menu favorites. And, make sure to brighten up the meal with an order of the refreshing mixed ceviche, complete with Yucatan octopus, wild Mexican shrimp, and Baja striped bass. However, there are also tons of tourist traps that might boast an ocean view but lack quality and consistency. Thankfully, we've rounded up some of our favorite seafood-centric spots all over the city.

The Savida Mixed Platter is a great way for two people to get a full taste of what the menu (which is constantly changing) has to offer. However, if you'd rather choose your own dishes a la carte, there are a few can't-miss items that are consistently available. Providence helped shape Los Angeles' relationship with seafood and is one of the longest-standing fine dining restaurants in the city. Over the years, the restaurant's feel and menu have shifted, but its current iteration is framed by a lauded tasting menu that honors and expands upon the establishment's storied seafood legacy. The principle of sustainability is central to the dishes crafted by chef Michael Cimarusti and the Providence team.

Angler opened on the Embarcadero in 2018, as a spinoff from Michelin-starred Saison, and it’s focused on seafood with some luxurious options and add-ons. Fish picks up flavor in the woodfired oven and smokers, and there are Parker House rolls with cultured seaweed butter, grilled whole lobster and abalone, not to mention urchin, uni, and more. Recommended by the Michelin Guide in 2019, Soban specializes in authentic Korean cuisine in the heart of LA's Koreatown. The female-led restaurant remains closely tied to Korean culture both through its food and its atmosphere. The king crab legs are also a must-order if you prefer fresh seafood, as are the steamed clams.

Luckily, Connie and Ted's has more real estate than most of the seafood shacks back east. The restaurant's spacious dining room is lined with bright wood, blue ceilings, and red chairs, and it has a sizable patio where diners can enjoy balmy Los Angeles afternoons. Grab a lobster roll, a few orders of sausage, breadcrumb, garlic-filled Stuffies, and Jo's Wicked Good Chowda', and you'll have a table of happy campers on your hands.

Fresh Seafood Restaurants in San Francisco

Snook is a difficult fish to catch and prepare, making it a rare find on a seafood menu and one of the many reasons that locals return time and time again to Coni'Seafood. Broad Street Oyster Co. is a laid-back yet modern seafood stand located in the heart of Malibu. While there are additional locations in Downtown LA and Santa Barbara, the Malibu location is ideal for beachgoers looking for a crisp beer and buttery lobster roll after a long day under the sun. One of the best things to do when dining at Broad Street Oyster Co. is to upgrade your lobster roll with fresh uni or caviar (or both). The MacNiven brothers grew up in the Bay, but their two seafood restaurants in San Francisco are New England-inspired.

From scallops to octopus to classic sardines, enjoy your canned fish with accompaniments like French bread, fresh butter, and a trio of different salts. Its mouthwatering menu, ridiculously fresh fish, and affordable prices combine to create meals that are pretty unbeatable. The first Mariscos Jalisco was founded in 2002 and now has food trucks all over Los Angeles County. From Boyle Heights to La Cienega and Pomona, a delicious bite of seafood is never too far out of reach. Chef Peter Hemsley’s moody new fine dining restaurant earned its first Michelin star this summer, plus a Green star for the restaurant’s efforts toward sustainability. The 10-course menu ($135) teems with seafood of all kinds including a wreath of creamy spot prawns and caviar, skate with green garlic, and even oyster ice cream with tart mignonette foam.

Connie and Ted's also recently brought back brunch and serves up unique staples like the Maine lobster Croque Connie and the bucatini carbonara. Crudo e Nudo exemplifies the detail-oriented, hyper-local ethos that defines Californian cuisine. Its menu is handwritten daily and determined by the freshest in-season fish that the Crudo e Nudo team can find. And, each glass of wine stocking the restaurant's shelves has been hand-selected and vetted to ensure low intervention production practices. The dining space is located in a former juice bar that is bright and airy, despite its minimal square footage. Ordering the oysters is non-negotiable — the ultra-refreshing dish is topped with pink peppercorn-limoncello, mignonette sauce, fresh borage flowers, and topped with a squeeze of lemon.

Graphic elements, written content, and cutting-edge functionality can be utilized by a dental practice to create a seamless digital marketing tool through the website. These elements work together to ensure that the website serves as an effective marketing tool, promoting the practice's brand and attracting new patients.

The Best Dental Website Designs of 2023

Read any potential agreement or contract carefully, and don’t give up ownership of your dental website, no matter what. Meanwhile, video integration also showcases the firm’s establishment tour. Modern dental website designs will often incorporate custom photography of the practice and your patients, or videos of the doctor explaining their treatment philosophy. These types of shoots can add a great deal of personalization to a website and cause the user to stay longer, so they are often worth the investment. Custom photo and video shoots can range from $1,500 for a local photographer that you direct yourself, to $6,000 and up for a full day video shoot and editing with a professional crew.

Costs for professional photography can vary greatly, but you can typically get a significant number of high-quality, edited shots for $500-$1,500. They use fonts that fit with their design but are also clear and easy to read. The Dental Suite does a great job of making the text on their website easily readable.

Having a fast load speed means website visitors can get the information they need from the dental practice. Having these accessibility features makes it easy for anyone to browse their website and learn about their dental services.

The University of Southern California names a room in his honor in the soon-to-be-completed Watt Hall in the architectural complex. In addition, the creation of the USC Paul Williams Scholarship in architecture is announced and Broadway Federal Savings and Loan Association donates the first check. Nearing his retirement from active practice, Paul R. Williams is recognized by influential Los Angeles interior designers for his mastery of California elegance. A 1934 estate from his "bygone days" is selected as the 1970 Design House West.

The North End and its residents, like everyone in Boston, witnessed and engaged in the alarms, disruption, and general unrest of the Revolutionary War era. The North End was one of colonial Boston’s three original neighborhoods. This photograph shows Williams' design for one of his important 20th-century celebrity clients — Frank Sinatra. When Williams was deciding on his career path, the profession was almost exclusively white and male.

$335K, single-family residence at 938 W. State Street

He established an association of Revere descendants and others to restore the building. Restoration took place in 1907 and 1908 and opened to the public. For a time, the family rented other properties and rented out the old house, as well.

Life in Tudor England

Paul Revere and his family owned and occupied it most of the time from 1770 to 1800. The Paul Revere Memorial Association now operates it, along with the neighboring Pierce-Hichborn House, as a house museum. The association restored the dwelling in 1908 after it had been used as a cigar factory and bank, and for other purposes.

Despite the fact that he was among the more prominent architects in California, if not the United States, until 1951 he was prevented from designing and living in his own dream home. The vast challenges he overcame and the extraordinary achievements he made during an era of racial injustice have inspired generations of architects. Through the Conservancy’s direct advocacy, the house is now a designated Historic-Cultural Monument (HCM), which acknowledges Williams’ time here and offers protection.

In 1770, he bought the now-landmarked Paul Revere House at 19 North Square for his growing family. The silversmith was resourceful and dabbled in a range of work, taking on apprentices and workers who created specialty flatware, silver bowls, tea sets and even casting the first bell in Boston in his foundry. He turned to dentistry to augment his income when the colonial economy faltered during a recession. Paul Revere was born in the North End neighborhood of Boston at the end of 1734 (the exact date is unknown) to a French Huguenot father who ran a silversmith shop and a mother from a local family. The Paul Revere house serves as the oldest residential building, still standing, in downtown Boston.

Nonetheless, it was a perfect home for an aspiring middling family. The first owner of the new two-story townhouse with gabled garret and cellar on North Square was Robert Howard, a wealthy merchant. By the mid-18th century, the front roof line of the building had been raised, which enlarged the garret and replaced the gable or gables with a row of windows. Paul Revere purchased the home in 1770, moving his family here from their Clark’s Wharf residence.

It is one of only 27 such bells that Revere personally would have a hand in casting at the family foundry. In 1811, at the age of 76, Paul Revere retired and left his well-established copper business in the hands of his son Joseph Warren Revere and two of his grandsons. Revere seems to have remained healthy in his final years, despite the personal sorrow caused by the deaths of his wife Rachel and son Paul in 1813. Revere died of natural causes on May 10, 1818 at the age of 83, leaving five children, several grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. The son of an immigrant artisan, not born to wealth or inheritance, Revere died a modestly well-to-do businessman and a popular local figure of some note. An obituary in the Boston Intelligencer commented, “seldom has the tomb closed upon a life so honorable and useful.” Paul Revere is buried in Boston’s Granary Burying Ground.

Williams renovated and repurposed this former Woolworth's building in 1954 for the bank. During "the turmoil and civil unrest that rocked Los Angeles" in the aftermath of the jury's verdict in the Rodney King case, the building and all contents are burned. Wisdom Magazine selects important Americans to receive an award for "contributions to knowledge and distinguished service to mankind." On the cover of its first issue in 1956, the magazine features Albert Einstein. Williams is among the distinguished recipients of the magazine's first award. A sketch of Williams' renovation for the Knickerbocker is featured in the Los Angeles Times (March 14, 1954). The newspaper describes the new front and forecourt in the sketch as a "strikingly attractive design."

In 1921, after living with Williams’ foster mother, Paul Revere and Della Williams had saved enough money to purchase their own home on East 35th Street in the West Adams neighborhood. The neighborhood was home to a large Black community, in large part because it was free of the restrictive covenants that blanketed most of Los Angeles west of Main Street. At the rear of the property is a church bell, cast by Paul Revere in 1804 and sold to the East Parish Church in Bridgewater.

John Bishop Green hires Williams to design a large weekend home, including the latest "modern" conveniences — electric refrigeration and automatic water heaters. William studies architectural engineering at the University of Southern California from 1916 through 1919. The 1898 Los Angeles city directory lists Lila Williams as living at 1405 Silver Street and working as a dressmaker. These hills, overlooking Boston's harbor and waterfront from the south, were the site of fortifications built at night by the Continental Army in March, 1776. Artillery mounted here hastened General Howe's decision to take his troops away from Boston, which in turn ended the siege of Boston, gave General Washington his first victory, and inspired the Patriot cause.

Small by today’s standards,  it was actually one of the larger houses in the area at the time of its constructions, with large rooms, compared to other homes of that age. A parsonage that was home to the Mather family stood on the site of the Paul Revere House until it was destroyed by the great fire of 1676. A new house was built to replace it in 1680 for Robert Howard, a wealthy merchant who located there most likely to be near the waterfront wharves.

The First A.M.E. Church dedication stone (Williams is a life-long member of the church) lists "C. I. Clarkson" as a trustee in 1903. This church elder may be the same Clarkson who fosters the orphaned, four-year-old Paul R. Williams. Olivia Hosken is the deputy managing editor of House Beautiful, where she oversees operations across the brand's print and digital platforms. She also writes about design and architecture and was previously the style & interiors writer at Town & Country and the managing editor of Dwell. The never-before-seen archive of the pioneering Black architect's buildings is now public.

Home to the Revolutionary War figure, Paul Revere lived here from 1770 to 1800. The night Revere declared "the British are coming" he embarked on his famous journey from this historic home. The Revere House offers tours, demonstrations of era-specific tools and techniques, and reenactors.

However, you will also be in the heart of Boston’s North End, home to a host of popular restaurants and bakeries. A visit just before lunch would time things perfectly to set up a memorable meal to follow up your visit. He initially lived there with his first wife Sarah, five of their children and his mother. At 90 years old, the house was no longer a luxury property, and Revere made additions and improvements, over the time he owned it, including adding a kitchen. It was built in the Tudor style with two levels and a basement with unusually high ceilings.

"... it is an expression of a Community Center Group, has the charm of a New England town, and the Community Building is unmistakably a wooden structure." Cook is known for his landscaping work in Southern California, including the original gardens at the Beverly Hills Hotel, the City Park in Anaheim — now Pearson Park and Irving Gill's Dodge House. Cook recognizes Williams' superior drafting and drawing skills when he assigns him the task of creating the hand-drawn perspective sketches for the park in Anaheim. Williams was hired in 1941 to renovate and add to the Beverly Hills hotel, which needed an overhaul after the Depression. He worked on the project throughout the decade and much of the hotel today is still his design, including the signature reception area with the loopy Beverly Hills script.
